Position Summary

The Assistant Facilities & Safety Manager will report to Chief Engineer and oversee many aspects of 1440 Multiversity's buildings, grounds, and safety systems; ensuring the property is safe and well maintained. The Assistant Facilities & Safety Manager assist all associates of Maintenance and Grounds teams in completion of projects, prioritizing and scheduling of projects and regular PM's. 

Accountabilities

  • Work with Chief Engineer in assisting the Maintenance and Grounds staff to effectively, efficiently, and safely perform daily duties
  • Work with Safety Supervisor and safety team in all aspects of campus safety and security of guests:
  • Writing thorough incident reports
  • Logging and retrieving Lost and Found items
  • Covering safety team shifts as needed
  • Helping in parking and shuttling as needed
  • Assist in Maintaining all compulsory documentation for city and state agency's:
  • SDS documents and updates
  • Health Dept documentation for Inspections
  • Haz-Com documentation
  • Evacuation and Disaster documentation
  • Assist in distribution of work orders, maintaining inventory and equipment tracking
  • Training and mentoring all team members in the consistent reporting of buildings, grounds, and all related systems safe and proper operations
  • Assist in developing, organizing and maintaining proper storage areas, warehousing of tools and equipment for day-to- day operating
  • Monitor and track campus vehicles and equipment maintenance needs
  • Maintain the fire / life safety equipment as directed and in full compliance with city and state agencies
  • Lead by example in care of property, equipment, safe work practices and guest interaction
  • Participate in daily stand up meeting
  • Actively participate in monthly team safety meetings
  • Assure all team members understand the need of safe work practices
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule as needed, nights, holidays, guest focused events, emergency situations

Essential Skills and Experience 

  • High school diploma and/or higher education degree or training program recognized by the industry or trade
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and safety requirements for multi-building facilities, grounds, systems, and equipment (including newly developed technology) and their impact on the overall operations of the organization
  • Trade knowledge consistent with the proper execution of tasks in:
  • Paints and Finishes
  • Basic electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Irrigation
  • Carpentry
  • Tile and Grouting
  • HVAC maintenance
  • Pool Maintenance
  • Keep work order system up to date and relevant
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills with an ability to communicate information to management, department staff and guest in a positive "can do" manner
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen appliances and safety systems a plus
  • 2-4 years in facilities maintenance desired
  • Solid ability to use Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must be readily available to respond to and help solve facility emergencies through use of a radio, a cell phone and/or delegation of personnel or contractor
  • Be available for emergency on-call situations
  • Weekends mandatory
  • Lead by example continually
