Position Summary

Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Technician III will lead and manage a wide variety of advanced skilled journey-level duties for preventative and corrective maintenance in the operation of the 1440 Campus.  The Maintenance Technician III is expected to meet with and manage vendors and contractors to completion tasks. This position will also take part in vendor management, RFP process and walks, pumps and storm system maintenance, electric and water utility monitoring and reporting.


  • Working with the Chief Engineer to assist the Maintenance and Grounds teams to effectively, efficiently, and safely perform daily duties.
  • Work with the Safety & Security Manager in requested aspects of campus safety and security.
  • Assist in Maintaining all compulsory documentation for city and state agency's:
  • SDS documents and updates
  • Health Dept documentation for Inspections
  • Haz-Com documentation
  • Evacuation and Disaster documentation
  • Assist in distribution of work orders, maintaining inventory and equipment tracking in our work order system, Synergy Work Orders.
  • Training and mentoring all team members in the consistent reporting of buildings, grounds, and all related systems safe and proper operations.
  • Assist in developing, organizing and maintaining proper storage areas, warehousing of tools and equipment for day-to- day operations.
  • Monitor and track campus vehicles and equipment maintenance needs.
  • Maintain the fire / life safety equipment as directed and in full compliance with city and state agencies.
  • Lead by example in care of property, equipment, safe work practices and guest interactions.
  • Leads / participates in daily stand up meeting.
  • Actively participate in monthly team safety meetings.
  • Assure all team members understand the need of safe work practices.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule as needed, nights, holidays, guest focused events, emergency situations.


Essential Skills and Experience 

  • High school diploma and/or higher education degree or training program recognized by the industry or trade.
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and safety requirements for multi-building facilities, grounds, systems, and equipment (including newly developed technology) and their impact on the overall operations of the organization.
  • Ability to engage with vendors and contractors to acquire bids and accomplish repairs.
  • Trade knowledge consistent with the proper execution of tasks in:
  • Paints and Finishes
  • Advanced electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Irrigation
  • Carpentry
  • Tile and Grouting
  • HVAC maintenance
  • Pool Maintenance
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills with an ability to communicate information to management, department staff and guest, in a positive "can do" manner.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen appliances and safety systems.
  • 2-4 years in facilities maintenance required.
  • Solid ability to use Microsoft programs, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must be readily available to respond to and help solve facility emergencies through use of a radio, cell phone and/or delegation of personnel or contractor.
  • Be available for emergency on-call situations.

  • Work environment: the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Will be required to walk uneven and elevated terrain for extended periods of time
  • Will encounter various wildlife
  • Insect and plant life that could cause allergic reactions: (i.e. honey bees, yellow jackets, wasps, poison oak, etc.)
