Position Summary


Reporting to the Banquet & Production Manager, the Private Event Server (the "PES") position will set the tone for 1440 Multiversity's private event food and beverage service by passionately modeling the organization's "deep hospitality" values of warm, relaxed, attentive, timely, and professional service that creates outstanding dining experiences for all guests. The PES role is responsible for setting, servicing and execution of all daylong coffee break service, evening beer and wine service, and all private receptions, dinners, and culinary events. This multi-faceted banquet/coffee break/server role is vital to the well-being of our program attendees, along with the uniquely creative campus-wide food and beverage offerings, educational classes and events.


Accountabilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service for private events, breaks and evening gatherings consistently
  • Prepare private event spaces and break areas for a variety of food and beverage related events
    • Set, serve specialty coffees, fresh cold pressed juices, food items and select beer and wine
    • Refresh all food and beverage service offerings throughout the day
      • Experience working in a self-directed manner to provide attentive service for coffee breaks, beer and

wine service stations and private culinary events such as multi-course dinners and tastings

  • Working knowledge with banquet operations, event set-up and large event service expectations
  • Ability to read Event Orders, anticipate guests' needs and provide timely and efficient service
  • Follow fiduciary payment processing policies and procedures with 100% accuracy
  • Ability to learn point of sale systems - previous experience a plus, but not required
  • Ensure all guest service area and displays are clean, tidy, and organized
  • Ensure guest seating and service areas are sanitized and always free from previous guest use
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain all utensils, equipment, furniture, and work areas to high standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others for the benefit of the entire team
  • Open and outgoing communication style with an emphasis on exceeding organizational goals
  • Assist in requisition ordering, taking deliveries and stocking various outlets
  • Ability to conduct and maintain consumption and inventory counts of guest products and supplies
  • Willingness to cross-train in all food and beverage operations as needed
  • Possesses skills and ability to deliver fine dining service and etiquette based on high standards
  • Work well in a small team and individual settings under pressure and time constraints in waves
    • Prepares event space for dining - clothing tables, setting tables, folding napkins, polishing glassware

and place settings, placing decorations, establishing mise en place with extra items, etc.

  • Ability to pace the dining experience - keep the culinary staff informed of meal progression and timing
  • Provide an upscale dining experience - remove unused table settings, clear with each course, pre-bus

table without disrupting conversation, replenish utensils, refilling beverages, etc.

  • Provide special attention to dining needs - transmit orders efficiently to culinary staff, inform others of special dietary needs and fulfill guest preferences with yes mindset
  • Ability to retain menu knowledge and provide ingredient details/information to guests
  • Ensure event details are correct on menus, signs, and other postings - check for accuracy
  • Set-up and break down equipment and/or supplies for assigned work events, breaks and bars
  • Ability to follow instructions as outlined in program briefs and event orders
  • Attend pre-event or shift stand-up meeting to positively reinforce 1440 workplace culture
  • Ensure cleanliness of storage, service, and dining areas, including but not limited to removal of dirty

dishes and trash, mopping, cleaning glass, wiping tables, etc.

  • Assist in cleaning, storage, and inventory of all dishes, glassware, and flatware used in food and

beverage outlets following the proper steps of service to ensure inventory is clean and stored properly

  • Must be able and willing to learn different departments on campus for lateral support
  • Efficiently and effectively resolve guest concerns and refer major concerns to proper personnel
  • Must be able to follow safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures
  • Must be able to check temperatures of freezers and refrigerators as well as heating equipment to

ensure proper functioning and safety

  • Willingness to learn, adopt and consistently follow 1440's sequence of service standards sequence of

service for this position.

  • Support all areas of the dining experience including but not limited to food running, serving, clearing dishware and trays from guests, breakdown station and cleaning process.
  • Actively participate in plate-up to increase food knowledge when speaking to guests.
  • Share ideas and solutions to improve food and beverage operations to enhance the guest experience
  • Must be willing to learn and independently use the point-of-sale system in various outlets
  • Other duties as assigned
