Food and Beverage Attendant

Position Summary

Reporting to the Asst. Direct of Food and Beverage, the Food and Beverage Attendant will set the tone for 1440 Multiversity's food and beverage service by passionately modeling our values of providing fresh, vibrant, and nutritious food that creates a delightful dining experience. The Food and Beverage Attendant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service, creating and maintaining a charming atmosphere, and ensuring cleanliness of all Food & Beverage related areas for the guests of 1440 Multiversity. The Food and Beverage Attendant is a vital part of the food service team and must assist in a smooth running of campus wide Food and Beverage operations in line with the 1440 mission, vision, and values.


  • Deliver exceptional customer service. Be knowledgeable about menu item.
  • Ensure Food and Beverage outlets are clean, tidy, and organized including seating and service areas. Clean and sanitize utensils and equipment according to policy.
  • Work with the entire team to meet and exceed measurable service goals.
  • Assist in ordering, taking deliveries and stocking various outlets.
  • Brew and serve all coffee, tea, and juices. Ensure they are served fresh.
  • Ability to setup and breakdown stations independently.
  • Ability to be cross trained in all Food and Beverage outlets.
  • Assist with displays ensuring signage accuracy.
  • Ensure cleanliness of storage, service, and indoor and outdoor dining areas, including but not limited to removal of dirty dishes and trash, mopping, cleaning glass, wiping tables, vacuuming and additional duties as required.
  • Assist in cleaning, storage, and inventory of all dishes, glassware, and flatware used in food and beverage outlets following the proper steps of service to ensure inventory is clean and stored properly.
  • Willingness to learn other departments and responsibilities for lateral support.
  • Resolve guest concerns and refer major concerns through proper channels.
  • Ability to follow safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to check temperatures of freezers and refrigerators as well as heating equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Follow sequence of service for food and beverage attendant.
  • Review daily menu and participate in plate up to increase food knowledge when speaking to guests.
  • Must be professional in actions and appearance and provide a welcoming, knowledgeable presence to every guest.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Attends and participates in all relevant meetings.
  • Ability to communicate daily feedback in a respectful and encouraging tone.
  • Maintains good relationships and lines of communication within the department.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with emphasis on listening.
  • Demonstrate a high-level of knowledge of 1440 culinary mission.
  • Have a current California Food Handler's card. Become certified in CPR/ first aid.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent people skills and ability to create and maintain positive relationships.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, good timing, and clear thinking in fast-paced environment. Work with a sense of urgency.
  • Experience working in the front of house with attention to customer service.
  • Demonstrate experience and knowledge in impeccable front of house service standards.
  • Strong orientation towards 1440 Multiversity's mission and core values.
  • Enthusiastic about process improvement.
  • Able to work standing and walking for 8-10 hours and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment necessary to do the job in a safe and sanitary manner.
